Office 365 and Skype for Business

Yesterday Microsoft announced their latest Office 365 Plan: Enterprise E5. This plan provides all the great Office 365 services you already know from the E3 plan, and adds some greater compliance features to Office 365 as a whole. There are also some exciting new features to Delve with analytics and Power BI’s querying and visualisation features.

It was also announced that Microsoft would be providing cloud hosted PBX services for Skype for Business! This has been a long awaited feature for organisations big and small and is a real game changer for the industry. Organisations will be able to provision cloud PBX services and be able to have In-Cloud PSTN break outs, essentially removing the need for an On-Premises phone system as users will be able to have their phone numbers provisioned directly from the Office 365 Admin Portal.

A few months ago, we posted about Skype for Business and how it has enabled Microsoft to create a new client experience and update the service within Office 365. With this new announcement, these services advance even further and enable connecting with colleagues and those outside of organisations even more intuitive. This really positions Office 365 as THE cloud productivity service.
