Below are detailed descriptions of the key differentiators between ACT! 2007 and ACT! Premium for Workgroups /ACT! Premium for Web based on six core buckets of functionality.

Scalable to accommodate larger workgroups and teams – Whereas ACT! 2007 can only accommodate up to 10 users, ACT! Premium for Workgroups and ACT! Premium for Web offer scalability and flexible deployment options to accommodate your entire workgroup or team1.

Centralised administration allows for quick user setup and ongoing maintenance – ACT! Premium for Workgroups delivers a host of administrative functions designed specifically to meet the needs of larger teams and workgroups. When setting users up in the database, administrators can utilise the teams function to group users and easily grant contact access by team. Once users are setup, from a Contact List View, select multiple contacts and specify which users/teams have access to those contacts2. In addition, you can look up contacts based on which users/teams have access them2. For ongoing database health, utilise automatic database synchronisation, automatic database backup, and automatic database maintenance to ensure critical customer information is kept up to date. Once set up, the only remote user involvement required is that their computer must be turned on at the scheduled time.

Advanced security provides additional control and more secure information – ACT! Premium for Workgroups and ACT! Premium for Web deliver field level security which allows administrators to restrict user and team access by granting Read-Only Access  or No Access to certain fields. As the organisation grows, simply add users to a team and permissions are updated. Further, administrators can control which users can delete data and/or export data to Excel®  using custom user permissions to enforce security. And, from a Contact View, mark permissions as public, private, or simply select users or teams that you want to have access to that data and limit the access to specific users or teams, quickly and easily.

Advanced opportunity tracking for more accurate data and better reporting – In ACT! Premium for Workgroups and ACT! Premium for Web, customise Opportunity User Fields, including the type and dropdown, so organisations can tailor ACT! to their unique business. Change field names as well as field types in order to capture the most accurate information2. Administrators can change the field type to make it currency, decimal, or number fields. Drop down fields are available in the User Fields, even make them multi-select values, to ensure data consistency. In addition, fields can be adapted and customised to generate a history from a field, to make a field mandatory, to disable the editing of a field, and to change the field length.

Advanced workgroup functionality designed to boost team productivity –Administrators, managers, and individual users can easily view team membership.  Anywhere a team name is displayed, simply right click to view individuals that make up that team3. Group scheduling3 functionality includes at-a-glance user availability for everyone in the database, the ability to manage and define resources, and task bar notifications when a meeting invitation is sent. Users can automate when Outlook calendar synchronisation3 occurs, even when the database is not open, calendars will remain in sync so workgroups always have a pulse on important meetings and availability of colleagues whether activities were scheduled in ACT! or Outlook.

Flexible Deployment and Remote Access Options – ACT! Premium for Workgroups and ACT! Premium for Web are available for use in a standalone or mixed use environment, enabling you to provide a solution that matches how each individual user in your organisation works, and still enjoy the benefits of centralised customer data.
