Office 365 Education E5: What is it and how it will Empower your University

Back in December, we reported on the announcement made by Microsoft about the Office 365 Plan: Enterprises E5. Microsoft have now recently released Office 365 Education E5, in this post, we’ll outline what E5 means for you and how it can digitally transform learning and collaboration at Universities and other higher education institutions.

To summarise, E5 is split into three key pillars –Security, Analytics and Voice– the plan ultimately is deigned to extend the capabilities of Office 365, and tailor them uniquely to students and faculty users to provide new dynamic learning experiences.

In the same way that Office 365 benefits an organisation, the familiar tools that help colleagues to communicate and collaborate together, can also work for staff and students to create that rich, interactive, anytime, anywhere learning experience. Users also have access to the most up-to-date versions of the Office applications, features and services such as for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote.

Using the great features of E5 we have seen Education institutions set up live seminars over Skype Meeting Broadcast to students that aren’t able to attend in person. By using Yammer, institutions can insert a permanent link to their Skype meeting (seminar, lecture), which can be clicked on to access a live broadcast of the seminar, which can also be recorded. Afterwards, Lecturers can post the recorded lecture in the video portal for any students that need to catch up and/or play it back in their own time. This will also enable students to share feedback.

As part of the Office 365 Education E5 plan, users benefit from all the fantastic Office 365 features you already know and love, along with: PSTN Conferencing; Cloud PBX; PSTN Calling; Power BI Pro; Delve Analytics; Customer Lockbox; Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) and Office 365 Advanced eDiscovery.
