Previously CRM Online users had no methods of selectively backing up and taking a snapshot of their CRM system and data before making significant changes or updates to the newest version. Although the system is automatically backed up in the background and protected in the event of a service failure, selective backups to enable a ‘Roll Back’ of functionality, which is standard practice for on-premise deployments, was not available. Now this feature has been made available for CRM Online users who have been upgraded to 2016 Update 1 (Spring Wave Release).
In the CRM Online Admin Centre against 2016 Update 1 instances, ‘Backup and Restore’ is now available to take snapshots of your instances, enabling you to backup and restore whole instances before making changes. There are also now daily system backups which are retained for three days, and the system will automatically backup an instance now before updating it (and system backups do not count towards the storage quota); see more here.
