Dataverse for Teams – What template apps are available?

Dataverse for Teams gives Teams users access to a suite of embedded Power Platform tools. The new embedded Power Apps studio within Teams makes it easier for users to create, edit and share low-code purpose-built business apps.

Microsoft have provided several out-of-the-box, ready to use templates to help you get started quickly. These templates can be deployed and customised effortlessly with intelligent Power Platform tools. This blog takes a look at some of the template apps available in the Microsoft Teams App store.

Employee Ideas

The employee ideas app lets Teams users share and discuss new ideas. The templated app allows you to:

  • Set up and configure an idea campaign.
  • Configure standard ideas submission forms for employees to submit their ideas through.
  • Review, edit and delete campaigns.
  • Review leader boards of ideas.
  • Vote for and share prioritised ideas and vote on the most-liked ideas.


The Inspection app can be used to inspect locations, assets, equipment, vehicles and so on. The solution contains two apps:

  •  Inspection app
    •  Can be used by employees to carry out inspections using checklists to log any issues found during inspection. The app also allows users to assign the correct person to resolve the problem.
  • Manage Inspections app
    • Can be used by a manager to view and close inspections, create and edit inspection forms, view insights about inspections history and manage the settings for the app.

Issue Reporting

The issue reporting solution consists of two different apps:

  • Issue reporting app
    • This app can be used by employees to log issues with relevant information, modify existing issues, and gaining a high-level overview of the issues.
  • Manage issues app
    • This app can be used by managers to create, review, edit or delete issue template forms used to collect information when a team member reports an issue. The app can also be used to report on issue history and effectively manage issue resolution.


The Milestones apps allows teams and employees from different departments to work together on achieving milestones, improving collaboration across the organisation. The app enables you to track work items by owner and status, add new fields and update them when needed. The intelligent dashboard gives you a 360-view of your projects in a centralised place.


The bulletins solution enables communications teams to share company and department news and information in a centralised place. The app allows you to:

  • Include images, videos and actionable buttons in articles and organise articles into categories.
  • View metrics for published articles such as view rates over time.
  • Customise your views by selecting categories and bookmarking articles of interest.
  • Post and read new messages on a mobile device, this works particularly well for field workers to feedback vital information such as weather alerts or system outages.

To get started with any of these template apps, go to the Teams App Store (see below image) and search for the app you want to install. Once you install these apps, you will have full access to the source code, meaning you can edit and personalise these apps as much as you want i.e. adding company branding and additional custom features.
