Bid Manager - Sales and Marketing


The Role

Working under the supervision of the Chief Commercial Officer, you will manage the tender process and create informative and engaging tender responses in order to win new projects in our key sector markets. The role includes communicating with stakeholders, developing the structure of responses; reviewing content written by others; engaging with subject matter experts to produce written responses; maintaining our question and answer library; preparation of presentation material; and submission of bids.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management and administration of all competitive bids.

  • Own the preparation and submission of bids, and the broader bid process, across all sectors Pythagoras operates in.

  • Effectively co-ordinate with colleagues to develop and write bespoke, high quality, market-leading proposals. This will often include interpreting technical content.

  • Research the industry and/or customer we are writing a bid for.

  • Research and compile the answers to questions, gathering information from subject matter experts.

  • Collect standard data for bids, such as financial records.

  • Check the rules each bid must follow and ensure that they are met.

  • Review proposal responses to ensure consistency in terms of win themes, messages, key phrases, etc.

  • Ensure our tenders are compelling, and actually answer the questions.

  • Provide appropriate inputs to SMTs, RFPs, prequalification and tender submissions as required.

  • Contribute to and manage our question and answer library.

  • Submit completed bid documentation through the required channel.

  • Participate in go/no-go decisions, and win/loss analyses as required.

  • Work with CCO and Presales Lead Consultant to ensure we implement lessons learned.

  • Prepare collateral to support sales presentations.

  • Build up and maintain knowledge of the industries, solutions, demos and technologies we work with.

Your Skills and Experience:

We are looking for applicants to have the following:

  • Previous experience as a successful Bid Writer or similar with a demonstrable understanding of the Sales process.

  • A healthy level of perfectionism, and an enquiring, tenacious mind-set.

  • The ability to write compelling, engaging, relevant and effective content.

  • Excellent written English language skills and an extensive vocabulary, able to communicate effectively with different audiences verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent research and interpretation skills.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and skills.

  • Deadline driven with effective time management skills.

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills; particularly experience using Microsoft Word.

Ideally, you’ll also have experience of:

  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Office 365.

  • Experience of Public Sector procurement processes.
